New Years Eve Wrap up...

Well, another year is almost done.

My sewing machine has gotten a bit of a work out the last couple days.

First off, I've been teaching my five year old to sew.  These are the placemats he made.  The hexagons are done by hand.  the others with help on my machine.  These are tops only, quilting will come later, when I have some batting scraps for these... as I try NOT to buy batting for placemats, but use up scraps.

These are the placemats I made quickly, July's Kit from Stitchin Heaven.... again, not yet quilted. (I have 5 or 6 sets of placemats that need quilting now. LOL).

Another finish!!

Another set of placemats.

This puts me at 21 finished quilt projects for the year.... which I'm pretty happy with.  Working on other placemats, and two commissioned quilts, but I doubt they will be finished in 2014.

And with 73 books read cover to cover, and having a 91% average in my first semester back at school, it's been a pretty productive year!

Almost the end of another year!

Well, 2014 had a lot of ups and downs, and I am sure 2015 will too. 

I try to focus on the good, and deal with the bad.

I have been sewing like crazy on the Hook, Line and Sinker quilt (have actually skipped to the last month, will have to go back to finish 2 other months I believe).  and it's making some progress (no pictures yet).

I have also finished reading the "Women of the Bible" book, though I have not yet finished the quilt top.  Keep checking back.

Anoter for Connors Christmas

This one was super easy.

Panel.  minky back.  (NO batting).  Quilt, and bind.  DONE.

Finished the placemats!!!

Not a big post, but here are some pictures.  I'll wash them tonight, and we'll be able to use them tomorrow/this weekend.

Okay, I have been sewing

Just haven't been taking many pictures apparently. LOL.

This past weekend I managed to buy kits for THREE more sets of placemats (yup 12 placemats total).  I got all the tops done... got two of the sets partially basted (as you can see in the picture... I do have backing fabric for both the basted sets, just didn't get that far).
But I don't have any pictures of the third set.  Yet.

Anyways.

Snowman and wine placemats.  :)  These the tops are basted (and cut out now), but not basted with the backs yet.  I'll get there.  Maybe this evening.

 

These are the finished TOPS for October's placemats... from the years kits I've been getting everymonth.

 

Working on Septembers now...  and yes, only the tops (I ran out of batting, so have to find batting for the 3rd set of placemats I bought this past weekend,... as well as the rest of these yearly kits... but I'm getting there!!  At least I'm getting some of the kits off my dining room table with this progress!!!  And my son should be able to use them for the right holidays/seasons next year - even if I am behind this year!

For Connor's Christmas...

I admit, I've been working on this one for a while... (this quilt cost me the tip of one of my fingers!!!)

but, it's finally quilted, bound and done. 

Gonna go under the tree for Christmas though... as the child has likely forgotten about it.  I do have another one that will be a surprise.. but so happy this one is done :)

Advent Calendars...

So this year, I decided to make Advent Calendars for both my son and husband.  I actually finished them back in October, but delayed the post till now on the off chance one of them - or a family member saw (hubby knows of the kids, but not his own) and my surprise got ruined...

Been away,

I know, I haven't been posting... I do have some scheduled posts coming up though. :)

My husband had a heart attack, so I've been busy with that.  All is fine.  He got stents to repair, and he'll be okay.  It's some major adjustments though, and living with a five year old, that  just doesn't stop!!

I have been sewing though. (Mainly commisisioned quilts for Christmas), and they will all be posted (in scheduled posts) starting after Christmas is over - and into the new year!!!

Have fun sewing and creating.  I know I do!!

Customer Memory Quilt...

This was special ordered, In memory of a special person.

The top, all done. :) 

 

 

Basted and marked for quilting.

She wanted it backed with a blanket, little did I know when I said yes, how much frustration and hair pulling this would cause me as I quilted it.

I used painters tape to do the marking, as I didn't want to risk ANY left over marks after quilting.... usually I use Frixion pens, or Crayola Washable Markers, but I just wasn't sure how either would react to the different materials and textures on this quilt - including silk ties!

Quilted.  Can't really see the lines, but it's all there!!

 

FINSIHED!!!

Backside, DONE.  Yes, I know the label is slightly crooked.  However after putting it on and ripping it off THREE times, I gave up.



I finished a quilt!!!

But I can't post pictures yet, cause it's a Christmas gift that was ordered by a customer.... but stay tuned, Jan 2nd the post with the pictures will go live...

and nothing else has been done since my last post, but anyways....

Well, this morning I had another commissioned quilt dropped off, wanting done for Christmas, so that is being added to the list....  and some updates of things I got done....

October 18th Update - some more progress!!

Since the last update, I've gotten this far:

Month 6 is done.  This is the second block. :) Jumping ahead to block 9 next I think.... but we will see!

 

After the quilt is fully pieced, and quilted, I will add buttons for the eyes and nose... in the meantime I am searching for just the right ones ;)

 

Still lots to get done.  By Friday, I'm hoping to have the Be Loving block embroidered... and Month 9 of Hook Line and Sinker embroidery started.  Also I hope to have Brenna's quilt up to and done basting.  School this week, so that will slow me down a bit on the sewing front! - and I have a whole novel to read for a friend.  So it'll be a busy week!

October 13th Update - Slight progress!

Okay, so halfway through the month, and I have very little done.  Oh well.

What I have accomplished:
1. Trace and colour month 9 of Hook Line and Sinker!

Still lots to get done.  This week I hope to get Brenna's quilt as far as basted at least.  Next week I have to hit the books again, so I want to be at least that far.  :) And work on embroidery/Downton at night, and when Connors home!  Must stay motivated!!

October, November, and December Goals

Okay, so well the young one is back in school, we are entering "birthday season" here, as well as normal holiday seasons... oh, and I am back to school in the "intensive program".... doing a Diploma in 16 months instead of 36... so I am quite busy. :)    So, in addition to the goals listed, I also have some commissioned quilts (which will be kept separate, with "special" postings when the intended has received it... including if it is a gift).  So they won't be posted on here until then. 

Also, I am kind of making it open season to finish up projects/gifts, that may or may not be on here... again, I will make special posts when those are done, and shown on the intended date...
and I hope to just get some things DONE.... so while there are Goals, they aren't "rules" so posts may be a bit different until things settle in the new year!

I have made this for two months, as I really need to focus on getting Downton Abbey finished and off the frame considering what has now arrived in the mail. (So excited, will share shortly).  So it will be my main focus for the month of August, so most of these things I am hoping to accomplish in September (with a few exceptions)

Women of the Bible - Quick Update

Well,

After working on this quilt for 9 months now, I have finally settled on what I want to do with ALL these blocks. 
And due to that realization, I have come to terms with the fact that after the 53 blocks for the quilt are made, I still need to make 10 more... and cut out 80 background squares.

Yup, it's going to be a BIG quilt. Like fit on a queen bed big.  With sashing.  And triangles... cause, yup, I'm going to put it on point.  HAHA.  And no, I don't do anything easy. 

Hoping to get the top done this year.... and then quilt it when I get the chance, likely by hand. 

:) Excited I've finally figured out what to do with the growing pile of blocks however! Now to find the right background fabric...
