March 25 - 28 - Goals Update

Okay, so Thursday I spent at a UFO sew in day for my guild.  And got less done than if I stayed home... lol.  Though I did start the hand part of the binding of one of the sibling quilts, so all was not lost.  Why did nothing get accomplished? Well, for starters I forgot my other sewing machine foot - so I only had the quarter inch one... which wasn't what I needed.  Also forgot my thread tree stand thingy, so my thread wouldn't go into the machine properly.  So I stopped, and did hand work....

So, goals for this week.
1. Finish embroidering month 2 Hook, Line and Sinker block.
DONE!!!  see....
changed the name of the lake, and some of the thread colours, but I am very happy with the end result!

2. Start Month 3 embroider of Gingerbread Squared
Done.  Not attaching a pic though until the block is completed....

3. Finish quilting the "sibling" quilts
Done. I do have a pic, with the binding even machined on, but not hand stitched (cause hand isn't done yet! But I can't find it... so please just believe me!

4. Cut up to (and including) week 26 of the Women of the Bible blocks.  - Um, not done.  At all.

5. Post the tutorials for the latest 2 Women of the Bible blocks. - Not done.  At all.  Need to relocate my notes actually....

6. Bind the heart placemats
Done!!  See...

7. Finish the top of the fat 1/4 placemats I got the fabric.
Done, and more.  Got the top done the, then basted at the UFO day, and quilted when I got home - and bound... cause I am awesome...

BONUS:
Quilt current row of Downton Abby
Not done... at all...

Start the next month placemat kit
Done.  Got all the pieces cut out.  Got the birds bonded on... still need to bond the flowers... then applique stitch, finish piecing, etc.  Shouldn't take too long :)

March Break Work In Progress Update

My goals for this week were:

1. Work on embroidery - I did.  More than half way done the 2nd month for Hook, Line and Sinker.  Will post a photo when I actually finish it!!

2.  Piece two Women of the Bible blocks
Week 11 - Miriam

Week 13 - Deborah

I pieced week 13 differently than how I meant to - blame it on Mommy brain.  But I am still happy with it.  Will post the correct cutting directions though when I do them up tonight or today on the group.

3.  The 4 heart placemats pieced.  I did this (didn't take a picture with my camera though), and actually got them basted, and 2 of them quilted already.  I will post pictures when they are all done... though I plan on binding them at the UFO day my Guild is doing March 27th.... so may not be posted till then.  Also hoping my next placemat kit comes early next week, so I can actually finish 2 sets of placemats that day!

4.  "Twin Quilts" basted.  Done.  I plan on quilting them next week, so I can bind them on the UFO day as well.

5.  Write out cutting for 4 more WOB blocks.  Done.  Actually wrote out up to, and including week 26, so about 13 weeks done.... will start cutting them next week. Yay.

6.  Read Tamar.  Done.

I honestly think I am going to continue with the weekly goals.  I am finding this keeps me focused all week - not just one day.  And that helps!!  Also keeps me updating on here regularly, which is also a good thing. :) Hope you enjoy all the pictures!

Friday 7 March 2014

March 3rd - 7th Work in Progress (week) UPDATE

Okay, so it's not even noon yet today (Friday), and I basically have my list done.

1.  Piece 4 Women of the Bible blocks - done. (with pictures!)
Week 8, Tamar

Week 9 Potiphar's Wife

Week 10 - Moses' Mom

Week 12 - Rahab.

Yes, I realize I skipped Week 11, Miriam, but I am going to do it next week.  I only skipped ahead to 12, because it was one I cut out, and the pieces were many different sizes - but similar, so I didn't want to bag them and mix them up.  So I actually pieced it first.  In the grand scheme of things, I ahead again, so it doesn't really matter... but next week my "goals" include piecing two more blocks... and week 11 is one of those!
I also managed to get all the tutorials made and posted.  So successful week for this quilt!

2.  Trace and colour Month 3 of Gingerbread Squared.  Done

Yes, the picture is sideways, but that's okay.  I don't like them much at this stage, much prefer them when they are all done.
I used Prismacolour pens (in 005 size) for this, and don't like it.  I love the pens, and easier for me to find than using only Micron Pigma, but I didn't like the size.  I got some of the 01 for next block, and will try them then....  But I do like the other pens - and they come in lighter colours which is good for me.  :)

3.  Cut out 2 weeks WOB.  I actually cut out three weeks, because it just made sense in my (lack of) organization I am using for this quilt.

4. Work on handquilting.  Um nope.  Blame it on my current kidney stones, and that chair being way to uncomfortable for them.

5. Work on embroider of fish quilt (Month 2).  yes.  Got a fair bit of it done.  Will post pictures when it is all done.  Changed a couple of the colours... but I think it looks good.  And the way it was patterned to my colour blindness looked REALLY bad... and apparently my method looks good to colour seeing people too - so Win win!

6.  4 Placemats applique cut out and bordes applique pieces done.  YES. DONE.  Well, didn't cut out the hearts for the center, but that's because wasn't ironing them yet anyways. HAHA.

7.  Read Leah's week in Women of the Bible.  Done.  And you'll just have to take my word for it!

So I still have the weekend to get more done (embroidery!!!), and then on to next week.  Which will be interesting with the little one home.  :)

Monday 3 March 2014

The next Two Weeks are CRAZY!!

So, out of the next 14 days, I only have 1 day where everyone is at work/school.   And that one day that everyone is gone, I am supposed to do the follow up to last weeks hospital visits - and get in my volunteer session for the week AT the school.

So, these two weeks again, are going to be Work In Progress WEEKS!  Then hopefully everything will get back to normal.

So, for this week.  March 3rd - 7th.  GOALS:
1. Piece 4 Women of the Bible Blocks
2. Trace and colour block 3 of Gingerbread Squared
3. Cut out 2 weeks of Women of the Bible blocks
4. Cut out the applique pieces of 4 placemants, and get iron and stitch the border pieces down.
5. Read the weeks readings for Leah

Other things to work on, the embroidery of Hook Line and Sinker, and hand quilting the Downton Abbey quilt!

I am going to include next weeks goals too... though I will wrap of this week on Friday (and maybe add to the goals, if I get lots done.....  haha. MAYBE).
March 10th - 14th GOALS:
1. Piece 2 Women of the Bible blocks
2.  Get the piecing and appliquing done of the 4 placemat tops.
3. Baste the two quilts for siblings
4. Write out the cutting directions for ANY two Women of the Bible quilt blocks.
5.  Read the weeks reading for Tamar (daughter in law of Judah)

I also have goals for the month.... but I want to be able to expand them as the month goes on, if I get things done as planned!!

Well, off to get stuff done ;)
